    Jailbreak 101: Jailbreaking Redux

A few weeks back I covered how to jailbreak your iDevice, but now there’s a new, easier way to do it, one that also doesn’t require the use of a computer to complete. Oh, and it adds supports for iOS 4.0 and 4.0.1!

Now this jailbreak works on the device itself and uses a PDF exploit that Apple says it already has a fix for, so jump on the bandwagon and make sure not to install iOS 4.0.2 when it drops next week as it will likely break this exploit.

    Ready? Here we go.

  • iPad 3G Data Usage for July

I’m a little late getting this posted, but I’ve been busy painting the new office.

At any rate, my data usage is down quite a bit from last month, only used 22.4GB for July.

I don’t expect to use much data in August either, as I’ll be out of town on vacation for a week and I tend to only use excessive amounts of bandwidth for work related things.

I purchased Helsing’s Fire on the recommendation of my friend, Bob Sacamano (I told you about him in my last iPod game review). We were sitting around, shooting the breeze, and he mentioned this new game he was interested in trying. So we both downloaded it and gave it a whirl, and both came away with the same reaction, we’ll get into it a bit after the jump. (more…)

Hijinks Reviews: Space Station: Frontier HD

Space Station: Frontier HD is the love child of a tower defense game and a real time strategy game. Understandably, SS:FHD grew up with some issues. It had upgradable towers, but not the selection of a true tower defense game. It had resource management and RTS-like mission objectives, but lacked that second layer of micromanagment that true strategy games have.  So, SS:FHD grew up with something missing, something it couldn’t put its finger on. When it made the jump to the iPad there was hope SS:FHD would mature a little bit; perhaps grow out of all the genre confusion. Unfortunately, all it did was get the standard iPad “graphical enlargement” surgery. While increasing SS:FHD’s confidence, it did nothing to improve his game.

  • Red Light in Macbook Pro Headphone Jack

Last night I went to plugin my headphones and listen to some music and lo and behold my headphones wouldn’t fit entirely in the jack, strange… I removed my headphones and went to take a closer look.

Apparently when your headphone jack is obstructed, in my case by a piece of plastic, there’s a tiny red light that lights up at the bottom of the jack. No, it’s not Skynet trying to take control of your computer.

In order to fix this, just take a toothpick or a paperclip and insert it into the headphone jack to clear whatever is blocking it.
