  • Hulu Invites

If you haven’t heard of Hulu, chances are you are either on a dial-up connection or living under a rock, in which case, kudos for reading this blog under your rock.

Anyhow, I have 9 invites to the private beta of Hulu, so leave me a comment with your email if you want an invite.

  • Flash coming to the iPhone? Doubtful.

Gear Live is reporting that Flash is on it’s way to the iPhone, now one might be inclined to believe them since they did manage to get their hands on an advance copy of 1.1.3 before it came out, but I still don’t buy it. Here’s why.

Hardware capabilities, let’s take a look at the system requirements on Adobe’s website:
Flash on the iPhone - System Req
Now the iPhone with it’s 624MHz ARM processor may come close, but the iPod touch is certainly out of the question since it’s running a 412MHz ARM processor. Also, I had a Dell Axim x51v a few years back, which had the same clock speed as the iPhone and Flash preformed like crap on that.

If Apple can pull it off, more power to them, but I don’t see it happening prior to the iPhone 2 coming out.

  • OS X 10.5.2

I’m sure by now you’ve heard the wonderful news, 10.5.2 is finally out. Yay! I’ll spare you the boring technical details, but holy crap did 10.5.2 jack my boot time. When I first installed Leopard my boot time went from 33 seconds to 54 seconds, ridiculous! Anyhow, after the 10.5.2 update it was taken my Macbook Pro a full 2 minutes to boot, for shame!

So yeah, I reset my PRAM and emptied out my caches and got things back to around 54 seconds. Just keep that in mind when you install the update. Please note, normally I don’t care about boot times that much, but I’m bored out of my mind right now.

p.s. TUAW is reporting that 10.5.2 makes your WoW run faster

  • Death and Taxes

In this world nothing is certain but death and taxes.

    Benjamin Franklin

It’s tax season, kids! And you know what that means, right? Yeah, me neither. Anyhow, I’ve been rocking the tax scene for the past four hours and it has been pretty painful, I knew going in that I was going to have to pay in of course, and that it was going to be a lot… but it still hurts.

So, a mere six cups of coffee and $11,237 of deductions later and I think I’m in business. I now only have to pay in several grand and the world is a much happier place, I will take the time to try and lower that figure further before I actually file, especially since I’m in no hurry to pay the feds any of my hard earned money.

What about you? Are you getting money back, or paying in? Worse yet, have you not even started your taxes?!

  • Eee PC

I just purchased an Eee PC from Newegg.com and I’m pretty excited to see what a budget Linux laptop is capable of. I’d also really like to replace the screen with a touch screen, but since the computer is meant for my girlfriend I’m not sure she’ll exactly support that idea. Oh well.

Now I started writing this post on Monday but I didn’t finish it, and since I just got the computer today (Wednesday) this is going to be more of a review, as opposed to a “oh man, this is gonna be sweet” post.

Like I said, I just got the computer. Obvious first impression is “holy crap! It’s small!”, because frankly it is… Moving on to a more technical note, I clocked the boot time at 33.7 seconds, just over double the claimed 15 second boot time, still not bad. This is the 2G Surf model, so it has a slightly slower processor which might explain the slower boot time. When compared to the 31 second boot time of my Macbook Pro it truly is an impressive feat.
