Saturday Shenanigans: Recent Entertainment News

A lot of the entertainment related news that has come out recently has been connected with Comic-Con, and I’ve got all of it set to come out in a new edition of the Entry Level Geek on Monday. On top of that, so much of the recent entertainment news has been about this person getting caught with pot, or this person getting thrown into jail. Then there were about 10 different weddings that were supposed to be big deals… just uninteresting unless you’re into the more ‘gossip-y’ side of entertainment news, which I’m not. With that said, here’s what I was able to find for you guys this week.

There’s some talk going around that Robert Rodriguez could be the director of the Deadpool movie. Ryan Reynolds was the perfect actor to play Deadpool, and was terrific in Wolverine Origins… the only problem was that they ruined the character in the rest of the movie. If they get Rodriguez to do the movie, this will jump up considerably in my list of movies I want to see in 2012.

Comingsoon.net has reported that Hangover 2 is confirmed for Thailand. Production will move there this fall with a script that sees the characters from the 2009 hit comedy traveling to Asia. The main characters will all be back, reuniting Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Justin Bartha and Zach Galifianakis as a group of friends who find themselves getting into even more outrageous trouble.

Yeah… that’s about it for the week, so we’ll move on to this week’s New in Theaters:

Movie: Salt
Stars: Angelina Jolie (Full Cast)
Rated: PG-13
Runtime: 1 hr. 39 min.
Rotten Tomatoes Score: 59% – Centers on a CIA officer who is fingered as a Russian sleeper spy. She eludes capture by superiors who are convinced she is out to assassinate the president. While trying to reunite with her family, she struggles to prove someone else is the traitor.
The Plot: When CIA officer Evelyn Salt (Jolie) is accused of being a spy by a Russian defector, she goes on the run, putting all of her experience and skills to use to elude capture, learn the truth of her identity, and hopefully clear her name.
Will I See It?: Yes, Angelina Jolie in an action movie is usually a pretty safe bet to be a fun ride. I read on IMDB that this could be the best one-off spy story since The Long Kiss Goodnight.

That’s basically all we’ve got this week getting wide release, even the wide releases are skim this week! More of the Zach Galifianakis love this week as I bring you the trailer for Due Date. The quick synopsis is “High-strung father-to-be Peter Highman (Robert Downey Jr.) is forced to hitch a ride with aspiring actor Ethan Tremblay (Zach Galifianakis) on a road trip in order to make it to his child’s birth on time.” Hope you enjoy!

That’s a good question… Zach G is funny in just about everything he does though, so I’m sure it will have a few good laughs no matter what
