  • Hijinks Reviews: Batman Arkham Asylum

Hello again boys and girls. I realize Batman: Arkham Asylum isn’t the latest and greatest video game by any means, however, it is a solid game that merits involvement in our line of game reviews. It’s no coincidence that it’s also one of the games I played with my recent game pass from Blockbuster.

B:AA (short for Batman: Arkham Asylum, I like to simplify things) is an action-adventure stealth game that gets quite a bit more right than wrong. Many of the other Batman games that have come out over the years took a lot of liberties with their story lines. This one strictly adheres to the comic book mythology. They even went so far as to have long-time Batman scribe Paul Dini write the story. That’s a big point in favor of the game. The second big thing they got right with this game is the voice acting. They went out and got the actors from the DC Animated Universe, Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill to voice Batman and Joker, respectively. Many hardcore Batman aficionados consider these two to be the best representations of what these characters should sound like, in an animated universe anyway. The third biggest achievement? No Robin!! Just how Batman should be!! (more…)

  • Quick Tip: Use AutoHotKey To Disable Your Touch Pad While Typing

Call it laziness, call it fat hands, call it bad posture, call it whatever you want. I’ve found on my latest laptop that the touch pad is either placed in an inconvenient spot, or perhaps it’s just more sensitive than my last laptop. Whatever the case, I’ve run into the trouble of the mouse jumping while I’m in the middle of typing; it’s particularly frustrating whilst blogging. Through the magic of AutoHotKey you can make the problem disappear!

I was browsing for possible fixes to this problem and stumbled across an old article on Lifehacker with this solution. I’ve now been using it for a couple weeks and it’s completely solved my problem. Before I get started with the quick how to, be sure to check your synaptics driver, it may have an option to disable the cursor while you type already built in. Go check real quick and then join me after the jump for the details. (more…)

  • 2010 Fantasy Football Season Preview

I love me some fantasy football. Although, to be honest, I really don’t participate in any re-draft leagues anymore, other than the Co-Ed league I’m in with my wife and a few of our friends. Oh, in case you aren’t familiar with the term ‘re-draft’, that’s just at league that holds a full draft every year, you don’t keep any players. I really focus on dynasty leagues, where you keep most or all of your team from season to season, and then hold a yearly rookie draft or a draft to re-fill your team. And even so, I used to be in almost 10 leagues, but life has caught up to me and I’m down to 2 or 3 leagues at the most.

However, I still spend most of my Sundays with my eye on the ticker, and ample time researching the players for my league drafts. I’m not going to get particularly in depth with these rankings or picks, but I’d be more than happy to answer any questions you might have, either in the comments (remember, you can get yourself entered into our contest to win an iTunes gift card!) or via twitter. With that in mind, after the jump I’ll present you a quick overview of my position rankings… focusing more on the long term value of players over their immediate production this season. (more…)

  • T.W.I.S.T. for Aug1-7

I’ve had a crazy week this week, so I didn’t have time to bring you links for most of these stories, and I apologize for that. But the last thing I wanted to do was miss a week, so here’s your biggest sports stories of the week, from my point of view.

News broke this week about Brett Favre contacting his coaches and teammates via text saying that he was calling it quits. Then Brett Favre said he was ‘undecided, but would probably play as long as his ankle holds up’ the next day. Seriously, who really gives a crap anymore.  And honestly, the Vikings passed on some quality rookie QBs in the draft just to make sure they didn’t upset the almighty Favre, he then turns around and ‘retires’ after the calendar has already turned to August? I’m so sick of this guy. Let’s just wait until the Vikings line up on offense in the first game of the year and see if Favre is under center. Quit giving this diva the attention he so desperately seems to crave.

The rest after the break. (more…)
