  • Axiotron ModBook Hits The Small Screen

Sci-Fi channel recently premiered their new series Sanctuary, and while the acting, storyline and character development are all woefully lacking, their taste in gadgets is excellent.

Here’s a screen cap from the pilot episode (click for full size):
    Sanctuary: Axiotron ModBook

If I’m not mistaken that is clearly the Axiotron ModBook.

  • Scratch magic

It’s probably happened to all of us LCD owners at one point or another… somethings scratches that beautiful real-estate you’re so proud of, and it makes you cry a little on the inside every time you see the glaring blemish. Good news! I’ve found a way to remove scratches… even fairly deep ones!

Disclaimer: I’ve tried this trick on one screen, a Samsung LCD TV (LN40A550). I can’t be sure it works on all LCDs, and I’m pretty sure it won’t work on the glossy type, only the anti-glare screens.

Ready for it? A white pencil eraser! Not the white ink pen erasers, which are rough, but a soft, white pencil eraser.

When we received our screen at work it had several deep scratches in one corner. It looked as if something sharp like a screwdriver scratched it. After reading somewhere online that white erasers worked, I gave it a shot. I was able to completely remove them by rubbing them with a white pencil eraser for a couple of seconds, then cleaning the residue with Windex and a soft cotton cloth.

Don’t believe me? Check out the pictures after the break. I can’t even tell where they were before, by sight OR feel. If your screen is scratched, consider giving this trick a try, then post a comment and let everyone know if it worked for you or not.

  • Good timing? I think so.

I recently (four days ago) sold my Nintendo DS and all my games on eBay. I did this with the thought that Nintendo would have to release a new DS pretty soon, so I might as well get rid of it while it still has some market value.

    Lo and behold.

During their Fall Press Conference today, Nintendo have – as expected – announced a new version of the Nintendo DS. Called the Nintendo DSi, it eschews the GBA slot (boo!) in favour of a range of improvements. The handheld’s screens have been enlarged, and will now be 17% bigger (at 3.25 inches) than those found on the DS Lite. As for the rumoured additions, both have proven to be correct, with “audio enhancements” made to the handheld, while it will also now include a 3 megapixel camera.

The DSi seems to have a lot of new features that would assume Wii integration. Virtual Console on the DS? Yes please!

The Nintendo DSi can adjust pitch and playback, making it ideal for language study and listening to music.
What’s more, the DSi features an SD memory card slot, making it possible to take pictures with the DSi and then view them on the Nintendo Wii. The DSi features a built-in browers, and its possible to download games and keep them on the DSi.

In September I took a road trip, moved out, started school, and generally slacked off.

    • AdSense: $14.36
    • Text Ads: $38.13
    • Surveys: $6

But I still managed $248.56, which is not bad at all.

  • Apple Drops NDA (Kinda)

Apple announced today that they were restructuring their NDA so it only applied to unreleased software.

That’s great and all, but that means I still can’t talk about my software which doesn’t work… the software that I really need to talk to people about. That’s fantastic Apple.
