  • Exercising the basic function of democracy

This afternoon I walked down the alley and across the street to my local voting center. I gave them my name, took my ballot, and enjoyed the privilege that so many men and women have died to protect. I voted. Freely, without fear of repercussion, I cast my opinion into the sea of Americans who all come together to celebrate this thing we call democracy.

Now to endure the hype, controversy, and childish infighting that embodies American politics.

    Yay, democracy!

  • Coming soon to a blog near you!

It’s no secret that my fellow bloggers and I have had problems posting on a regular basis, in fact, Dave hasn’t posted since May 18th, 2008. Yeah…

Anyhow, for the month of November we’re aiming to knock out at least one blog post a day, and yes, in case you’re wondering, this post does count as our one post for the day. We’re off to a great start!

Oh, and if anyone still reads this blog, we’d certainly like to hear from you, and suggestions for future topics will be rewarded with free PEZ.

  • Life Without a Computer is Boring

A few days ago my MacBook Pro was taken out of the backseat of my car, along with my iPhone dock, AC charger for the iPhone, and a copy of Windows XP Pro (with COA).

As you might have gathered from the title of this post, life has not been the same without my computer, I still have a laptop, but it’s an Eee PC 1000H so between its limited processing power and tiny keyboard it doesn’t make for a very productive afternoon. And of course, it runs Windows, so 90% of the programs I need to run for school / work can’t even be installed.

Now its pretty much a waiting game, I’ve filed a police report and an insurance claim (thank goodness for Renters Insurance), and now I have to wait for the insurance paperwork to arrive and the claim to process. The guy I spoke to at State Farm said it would likely take 1-2 weeks to process my claim.

The next two weeks are going to be incredible long and boring I’m afraid.

  • Axiotron ModBook Hits The Small Screen

Sci-Fi channel recently premiered their new series Sanctuary, and while the acting, storyline and character development are all woefully lacking, their taste in gadgets is excellent.

Here’s a screen cap from the pilot episode (click for full size):
    Sanctuary: Axiotron ModBook

If I’m not mistaken that is clearly the Axiotron ModBook.

More images and a video clip after the jump. (more…)

  • Journalism vs Web Development

Did you know that the median wage of a reporter/correspondent for the average newspaper is $16.68/hour, and that the demand for new talent isn’t supposed to change in the next ten years?

Did you know that the median wage of a web developer is around $34.38/hour, and the demand for new talent is forecast to rise 14-20% in the next ten years?

I didn’t. Now I do. Career search ended!
