  • The MMA Minute – WEC 50: Cruz vs. Benavidez 2

Ahh, the joys of World Extreme Cagefighting, or the WEC as regular people call it. It’s the sister organization of the UFC, focusing on the smaller weight divisions, Lightweight (155 lbs), Featherweight (145 lbs), and Bantamweight (135 lbs). It’s so much fun watching these fights because these guys literally throw each other all over the place. Tomorrow night they hold their 50th event which will air on Versus the biggest (and only) draw being the Bantamweight title fight. This was supposed to be the debut of WEC poster boy Urijah Faber at his new weight class, but he had to pull out recently due to a knee injury. I have to confess, again, I haven’t watched quite as much WEC as I have other organizations, so some of these predictions are a bit off the cuff, or based on only 1 or 2 fights I’ve seen, you’ve been warned.

    Main card

Before my picks, I’d like to do a quick review. Over the course of the last two months I’ve gone 2-2 in Strikeforce, 4-5 in UFC, and these are my first picks of a WEC card. 6-7? Those are very pedestrian numbers. Take out possibly the biggest upset in MMA history and a card littered with picks from a rooting interest instead of purely picks by the book and those numbers would be a bit better, but that’s just a hollow excuse, I promise to do better. So here’s your picks. I like Cruz to keep his belt, Roller over Pettis, Swanson over Mendes, and Jorgensen over Pickett. Keep your fingers crossed boys and girls.

  • Easy Starcraft 2 Strategy: Void Ray Rush

Easy Starcraft 2 Strategy: Void Ray Rush

A standard Protoss build in Starcraft 2 almost always has a basic framework of ground units to start the build. From a basic army of Stalkers and Zealots the natural progression takes you to a Robotics Bay and Immortals/Colossi/Observers. These units are almost indespensible in games that last more then 15 minutes. Any build that ignores this basic progression is banking on ending the game quick. That’s why these posts have “Rush” in the title. If you don’t succeed with the rush, and your opponent is any good at all, you’re probably screwed. That principle is never more true then with this build:

    Void Ray Rush

Here’s the scenario. You ignore ground units completely. Your goal is to get a Stargate as soon as humanly possble, then Chrono Boost the heck out of it to get your first Void Ray up to your opponent’s base with the goal of either killing his CC/Nexus/Hatchery or killing most of his peons before he can mass enough anti-air to make a difference. This strategy primarily effective PvT and PvZ. PvP is doable, but only if he’s out of position, or if you can out build him early and quickly kill any anti-air he has.

Also, if you play a lot of 3v3 and 4v4, you’ll see people abuse Void Rays like none other.

    Without further ado, the build:

  • Hijinks Inc. Forum is Live!

Those of you who pay close attention to the site probably noticed a little forum link showing up in the menu bar last week, but today we are officially launching the Hijinks Inc. Forum!

We here at Hijinks have been looking for more ways to promote user interaction and to give people reasons to visit the site more often, adding a forum seemed to be a logical step and we really hope you guys stick around and take advantage of it.

If you’ve previously registered for an account on Hijinks Inc. we’ve reserved your username for you, however you’ll need to reset your password in order to access the forum. Resetting your password does not change your WordPress password, that will remain untouched.

New user, or not sure if you have an existing WordPress account? Just register for a new forum account.

We played around with bridging the user databases, but it slowed things way down and was awfully buggy. So for the time being you’ll need to login / logout of the forum and the blog individually, using separate accounts.

If you have any problems, or have feedback, please let us know.
