  • Scour – Get Paid to Improve Search Results

Getting paid might be an overstatement, as Scour really just rewards you with points which can be redeemed for cash at around 6500 points (that translates into $25).

Scour arregates search results from Yahoo, MSN, and Google, so it’s actually useful as a search engine. Plus you can earn a little extra on the side.

  • Sure is quiet around here

Man, July hit and Hijinks died. While Aaron has an excuse (he’s trying hard to hospitalize himself with his new scooter), I really don’t. My problem hasn’t been a lack of content to write about, but more of a lack of interest in the content thats available. Apple’s App Store launched recently with a plethora of new games and software for the iPhone and iPod Touch. The aspiring developers found within the confines of Installer.app have been busy too, but I haven’t taken the time to actually play around with any of the new stuff.

Its times like this that convince me I couldn’t make it as a serious video game writer; I really enjoy games…with the caveat that they are actually enjoyable to play. No offense to the nice and I’m sure well meaning indie developers, but 90% of it isn’t stuff that’s enjoyable to play. Enjoyable to make fun of maybe, but even that gets old after a while.

Complaining aside, I promise to get some actual content going here in the near future. E3 is in full swing, with all the major press conferences in the past 24 hours. Final Fantasy XIII is coming to 360, Wii gets a voice chat periphial, and Sony announced God of War 3 and a handful of 1st party PSP games. Yay for the handheld market!

  • The Definition of Beautiful

Here’s the true definition of beautiful: Filling up and getting an entire tank of gas for $12.27

But wait! There’s more… that $12.27 will get me 203.4 miles!

If you haven’t figured it out by now, I just purchased a scooter, but not one of those pansy little Vespa’s or a Honda Metropolitan… No, this is a 400cc Yamaha Majesty.

    Yamaha Majesty

Pretty sweet, huh? A lot of people were saying that the Majesty is a little weak in the get-up-and-go department, but for a starter bike I have no complaints. From a dead stop I caught up with two Harley’s going 55mph in just a few seconds, not bad at all.

Anyhow, the lack of future updates either means I’m busy riding, or dead.

  • REITs

With the housing market falling faster than Bush’s approval rating, Real Estate Income Trusts (REITs) are a shaky investment at best.

The good news is that you can buy into REITs that only invest in business real estate or development properties, and that can help reduce the risk.

Most REITs also pay great dividends, so for my long term dividend investing strategy they fit nicely. Here’s the problem though, a lot of REITs are either based out of Canada or are considering reducing or stopping their dividends, not cool. Case in point, CapitalSource (CSE) has announced that they’re thinking about putting the kibosh on their dividends for the time being to help combat the rising costs of operating in a floundering economy.

A huge drawback of the Canada REITs is the dividend is taxed both in Canada and the US. Boo!
