  • Apple Q3 Earnings Call Announced

It’s that time of year again, at 2pm Pacific time on July 21, 2008 Apple will rock the world with their earnings call.

As always though, if the guidance for the next quarter is at all conservative Apple stock will tank… again. Analysts will likely have high expectations for Q4 since the iPhone 3G will be on sale for all but 11 days of that quarter, so when Apple does what they always do and purposefully underestimates their earnings for the next quarter it won’t match up with the hype and their stock will drop like a stone.

Look for a great opportunity to pick up some shares of Apple a few days after the earnings call.

  • Transitioning

We’re in the process of moving servers, I’ve been copying database files all night so hopefully things will go smoothly when I flip the switch.

I’ve cloned the directory structure and remapped all the paths in the configuration files for various parts of the site, so hopefully if I keep both versions of the site live for the next 24 hours you’ll end up here one way or another.

If you encounter any errors or missing pages, let me know in the comments.

  • Just had to share

Many moons ago I shared my bewilderment over the state of the world we live in. I now retract my statement. I love people who spend money on trading card games. In fact, I think they should spend some right now.

Imagine my surprise when I picked up a couple booster packs from the latest World of Warcraft Trading Card Game expansion to find a X-51 Nether-Rocket card staring up at me in all its shiny glory. For a brief moment I considered keeping it, but then I realized I’d be losing out on the more then two hundred bucks I could make selling it on eBay. I kinda feel like I just won the lottery.

  • Good Cheap Laptop

I just picked up an Acer Extensa EX5620-4025 laptop for $399.99 over at Newegg, regularly $499.99 (on-sale currently for $449.99, but with a promo code it gets it down to $399.99).

It really is a fantastic deal considering the specs:
Operating System: Windows Vista Home Premium
    CPU: Intel Pentium dual-core T2370(1.73GHz)
    Screen: 15.4″ WXGA
    RAM: 1GB DDR2
    Hard Disk: 120GB
    Optical Drive: DVD Super Multi
    Graphics Card: Intel GMA X3100

And for an extra $30 I ordered another GB of RAM for it. I’ve purchased a few of these in the past for clients and they’ve gotten great reviews. Even in the stock configuration I was impressed at the speed it runs Windows Vista (nothing amazing mind you, but still not bad).

Acer also provides XP drivers for the Extensa series of laptops, which is a nice bonus.

The promo code for the extra $50 off is: EMCAGBKAH but it only works if you’re subscribed to Newegg’s newsletter.

  • Office War

This is probably the most epic office battle every filmed.
