If you’ve been playing the latest World of Warcraft expansion the past couple weeks, you’ve probably sampled the inanity that is [1: General]. The starting zones are filled with people asking stupid questions, and getting equally stupid answers most of the time. I dinged 80 a few days ago, so I thought I’d shed some light on a few more common questions I saw on the grind to 80.
Q: Where are all the mining / herb nodes?
A: With an average of 200 people in the starting zones the first couple weeks, all mining and herbalism nodes were camped to oblivion. I didn’t see my first cobalt node on my miner until I hit 72, and it was spotty after that. If you’re still having trouble, try looking on off-peak hours. I’ve found Dragonblight the best place for cobalt hands down, and I would assume herbalism would yield equally as well.
Q: D.E.H.T.A vs. Nessingwary. Can I do both quest lines? Which have better rewards? Which faction is better?
A: D.E.H.T.A (Druids for the Ethical and Humane Treatment of Animals) is a quest hub in Borean Tundra. The druids there are at war with Hemet Nessingwary’s loot crazed hunters, and the final quest involves killing one of the Nessingwary hunters you met in the Burning Crusade. The whole quest line is a tongue in cheek mockery of every animal rights organization you’ve heard of.
It turns out Hemet Nessingwary has crashed in Sholazar Basin, and offers his usual hunting kill quests once you’ve hit level 76. These two quest lines are not on Aldor/Scryer style opposing factions, and you can indeed do them both on the same character.
Q: Where is the best place to farm Titanium?
A: Wintergrasp. Ice Crown/Storm Peaks are decent if you have epic flying and a add-on like Gatherer.
Q: Where is the best place to farm Saronite?
A: Sholazar Basin.
Q: Where is the best place to farm Cobalt?
A: Dragonblight.
Q: Where do I buy the book / manual (or where is the trainer) for Heavy Frostweave Bandages?
A: The book is a random world drop. It is on the loot table of every monster in Northrend. It seems to drop more frequently in instances.
Q: How do I do/where can I find [insert quest here]?
A: Step 1: Read the quest. Step 2: Comprehend. Step 3: If all else fails, look it up on Wowhead/Thottbot/wotlkwiki, or the ever popular Google.
