  • What Dave’s Watching: TV

I know I was brought in here to review movies and games, but I’m big into watching TV shows as well. I download torrents of some old stuff, watch some on DVD, and when my wife was on maternity leave we signed up for Netflix to stream over the Xbox.  I don’t have cable or even rabbit ears, so my whole lineup of shows comes from what I can find online (usually btjunkie). Here’s where I’m currently spending my time, for this edition we’ll start out with TV shows I regularly download to watch:

Burn Notice : This show first grabbed my attention because Bruce Campbell was in it. C’mon, you gotta love Bruce. However, I didn’t get started until late in the 2nd season. It’s a really fun spy show that doesn’t take itself TOO seriously. In case you’re interested, it airs on USA on Thursday nights. Rating: 8 out of 10 (more…)

  • Hijinks Reviews: Red Dead Redemption

Red Dead Redemption is Rockstar’s new (I say new layered heavily in italicized sarcasm because the game was actually released way back on May 18th) open ended, Western themed action adventure game that was released to raving reviews from just about everybody. This is the part where you say, ‘Hey, Rockstar, I recognize that name, didn’t they make the Grand Theft Auto games? I love killing prostitutes and running policemen over in stolen cars!’, but before you get all gung-ho about the mayhem you can create in the wild wild west, let me help you by more accurately describing what you can expect after the jump.

  • New NCAA 2011 Teambuilder site is up!! (sorta)

*Edit: Looking for NCAA Football 2011 rosters file download and custom stadium sound information? Details here.

*Edit2: Don’t have internet on your console? Here’s a guide to using a flash drive to get the rosters.

First quick thing I’ll throw out there is for you guys who are anticipating the upcoming release of NCAA Football 11. If you don’t know what to do until July 13, try out the new Teambuilder site. EA hasn’t made any sort of official announcement about this new site, and it has been glitching up quite a bit for just about everyone who’s been trying it, but feel free to poke around. You can at least look at the new roster rankings for the upcoming season.

To see the new roster rankings, after you register on the site (if you haven’t already) just create a new team and click on the far right button ‘Roster’. Here you can select any base roster for your team. Once the team is loaded you can look through and see everyone’s ratings on your favorite team. I’ll be sure to post again if they make some sort of official announcement or change the location of the page. Quick, go try it out and kill a couple hours…

  • Pixar: Up

Pixar debuted the trailer for their new film Up yesterday, looks odd.

The hero of the film is a 78-year-old man named Carl Fredricksen, who walks around hunched over with a tripod cane. When he was a kid he met a girl named Ellie, who grew up in small midwestern town. The two fell in love and eventually got married. Her dream was always to explore the world and visit paradise falls, but as usually happens, life got in the way. They were never able to make good on their promise, and Ellie eventually passed away. Now Carl is a widower living alone in his small home. Developers are threatening to move him into an old folks home.

  • The Rocker

Ok, I’ll admit, I don’t know ANYTHING about this movie. This picture of Rainn Wilson rocking out is the first I’ve seen or heard of it. But apparently it’s called The Rocker and a new trailer is up over at Yahoo. I just watched the trailer… and this movie has officially been added to my list of movies I’d like to see this summer.
