  • Hijinks Reviews: Pool.

Pros: Good control scheme, great execution of an age old game.
Cons: No real multiplayer support, physics engine shows some weakness.

    Platform: iPod Touch and iPhone.

    Developer: Adalat Nasibov (www.adikus.com)

    Version Reviewed: 1.2

Pool is a game dating back to the middle ages. Originally it was played almost exclusively by nobility, but by the 1800s it was a premier past time in taverns and saloons across the world. So, how does a 500 year old game translate to the touch screen? Turns out, pretty dang well. Full review and screens after the jump. (more…)

  • Hijinks Reviews: iPac3D

    Pros:
Good concept, one of the first true 3D games for the platform.
Cons: May ruin your childhood memories of Pac-Man. Also, the onscreen control interface is less than reliable.

    Platform: iPod Touch and iPhone

    Developed by: Marco Giorgini (MarcoGiorgini.com)

Joining the masses as yet another Pac-Man clone, comes iPac3D. Based off the Yeti3D engine by Derek John Evans, this latest reincarnation barely resembles the Pac-Man you grew up with. It is however a fairly polished and stable game, it does have a few quirks of course, but it is free after all.

    More after the jump.

  • Apple Store – Drop Off

I dropped my Macbook Pro off at the Apple Store yesterday around 4pm, the Genius who was working told me that it would probably be ready some time today. Which means another trip to Omaha… this is getting kind of old.

The one nice thing about taking it in to the store is that I’ll be able to inspect it for damage right then and there. Hopefully this will be the last of it though.

  • 2008 Summer Movie Releases (POWs, BIFFs, and WHAMM-Os not included) Part 3

After posting the links to all those trailers, it’s blatantly obvious that Warner Bros. and Universal don’t spend NEARLY the time marketing their movies that everyone else does. Either that or they just suck at it, or maybe they don’t care. Whatever the case, be sure to go check out my reviews on the May and June releases, and then come back and we’ll jump into July.

You ready? Join me after the jump (more…)

  • Hijinks Reviews: Fring

    Pros:
Hands down one of the best apps for the iPhone. Period. First to bring native Skype support for Wi-Fi calling. Replaces the need for running three or four chat apps.
Cons: Leaving it running in the background does shorten battery life. Doesn’t play nice with your tunes.

    Platform: iPod Touch and iPhone

    Developed by: fringland ltd (www.fring.com)

I was fairly impressed with iChabber, which was the first app to bring working GoogleTalk support to the platform, but I have to say Fring makes iChabber look like a toy. Both in terms of ease of use and available features.

    Continued after the jump…
