I’m going to have to apologize about this week’s Saturday Shenanigans (and possibly the upcoming month or so), I volunteer my time as a coach for a flag football team and it just doesn’t leave me a ton of extra time. However, I don’t want these weekly posts to fall by the wayside, so the show must go on!
With that out of the way, let’s get on to the Shenanigans.
Google just has to have their hand in everything! The Financial Times says that Google has approached major studios about launching a global pay per view movie service by the end of 2010. If this comes to fruition, analysts speculate that YouTube will become one of the major players in the online video streaming marketplace.
Entertainment Weekly has a video of an interview on the Emmy red carpet with Tina Fey. In this pre-Emmy clip, she reveals that she’s booked Mad Man Jon Hamm for a return appearance as Drew in her show’s much-anticipated live episode. Jon Hamm has been great in this role, so I’m excited to see how it goes live. Oh, and speaking of the Emmy’s, here’s the list of winners.
We’ll cover the rest of the shenanigans after the jump.
Saturday Night Live is undergoing some staff changes. Will Forte is leaving the show and they are adding at least 3 new cast members: Taran Killam, Paul Brittain, and Vanessa Bayer. I’ll be sad to see Forte leave, he has a few characters I get a kick out of, but maybe some fresh blood will help spruce things up a bit.
People.com has reported that Ryan Reynolds and Bradley Cooper will split top billing on a buddy movie that’s being described as an edgier, R-rated version of the Lethal Weapon series. I enjoy both of those actors, so hopefully they are able to create enough chemistry to make this movie as much fun as possible.
Ain’t It Cool News is reporting that Mark Millar is telling people that Kick-Ass 2 has been green-lit. I really enjoyed Kick-Ass (the review is upcoming) so I hope this turns out to be true.
Conan O’Brien officially announced the name of his new show, it’s… Conan! Well, that’s just super original isn’t it? You can see the video over on GeekTyrant.
We’ve got some interesting news coming from Marvel about the upcoming Captain America and Thor movies. Joe Johnston spoke about how the Captain will be used in the other movies, and writer Bryan J. L. Glass was interviewed about Thor. Both are good reads, I’d suggest you check them both out.
That about does it! I didn’t have time to compile the information for this week’s new releases but I do have a movie trailer for you. It’s called Red, it stars Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren, Morgan Freeman, and John Malkovich. Malkovich plays a crazy guy in this one, and it looks like it will a lot of fun. See what you think:
